Williams Sisters to Buy Minority Stakes in Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins, who already sport Gloria Estefan and Marc Anthony as part-owners, are set to add to the tabloid buzz at Land Shark Stadium with the addition of the Tennis dominating sisters.

Hopefully, they'll bring some of that winning culture to a Miami team that is being vastly overlooked despite having won the AFC East over the Patriots last season.

Favre To Join Vikings

Good to know that Favre is still in the same condition as he's always been:

A flip-flopper who puts himself before the team.

Great Article About How Football Players Are Heavily Conservative

"The values that Republicans espouse in terms of capitalism, free enterprise, responsibility, working hard, sacrifice and commitment — that message probably resonates with the majority of athletes a lot more,” said Watts, who retired in 2003 after eight years in Congress.

Michael Vick Signs With Eagles

This blog was waiting until it had something interesting to add to the good move/bad move debate, but...nothing.

Makes you wonder how much faith Andy Reid has in Kevin Kolb, the presumed QB of the future.

Otherwise, Vick is just a high risk, high reward wildcat QB.

Dolphins Coach Runs "Football's Version of Guantanamo Bay"

Within the first week four players either left camp or, in the case of tight end Jared Bronson, did not report in the first place.

Also quitting were offensive tackle SirVincent Rogers, safety Ethan Kilmer and, most recently, fullback Matt Quillen, who lasted three days after being signed last week.

None of the four were expected to make the final roster, but so many defections in such a short span still had Dolphins coach Tony Sparano grasping for answers.

"I wish I could tell you," Sparano said Monday. "It might be me! I told you I'm not for everybody."

And that's why the players that remain are great!

Dan Marino Actually Greatest Comeback Quarterback, Not Elway

It was so often referenced that Elway conducted 47 fourth-quarterback comebacks. Problem is, comebacks aren't an official NFL stat. Kacsmar found that teams defined a fourth-quarterback comeback differently. The Denver Broncos were liberal with their interpretation, while the Miami Dolphins were conservative.

The Broncos gave Elway credit for a fourth-quarter comeback if they went into the fourth quarter tied and then pulled ahead. Included in that oft-referred to 47 was a game that ended in a push.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, considered only games in which Marino took the field in the fourth quarter while behind and he engineered a winning drive.

Kacsmar standardized a definition and crunched the data again.

Final tally: Marino 36, Elway 34.

Boo. Yeah.

Eli Manning Now Earns More Than His Brother

Eli Manning has agreed to a new six-year, $97.5 million contract extension with the New York Giants that will make him among the highest-paid players in the NFL with an average salary of roughly $15.3 million, a source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Peyton makes $14 million and is signed for just as long...something seems seriously wrong with this...

Run, head ball coach, run!

Vegas Delivers Some Great Locker Room Material for the Fins

The Las Vegas betting over/under on Dolphin wins is a mere 7 ½ victories. That means the experts, the money, is on Miami retreating to mediocrity and failing to even make the playoffs, struggling and losing against a much more difficult schedule.

First reaction: what disrespect for the defending champs of the toughest division in the NFL who won 11 last year and actually added in the offseason.

Second reaction: you know this is going to posted on the door for the team to slap every time they run out to the field to beat some sorry suckers down.

Jim Johnson, Eagles Defensive Coordinator, Passes Away at 68

Mr. Johnson had been suffering from cancer and took a leave of absence in May. He had been the Eagles assistant for all 10 years of Andy Reid's run, and the team was second in the league in sacks over that span, not to mention the 7 NFC East championships, 5 NFC championship game appearances, and the NFC championship.

Coach Johnson interviewed for many head coaching jobs, but took it as an honor that he got to see two of his long-time assistants, Steve Spagunolo and Jim Harbaugh, get top jobs with the Rams and Ravens, respectivally. Please take a moment to pray for the family of a man who went too young.

Brett Favre To Stay Retired

Now let's see how Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels handle their team blatently and whole-heartedly pursuing a washed-up former great. That shows real confidence, Vikings.
